Leeds Girls Can

This Girl Can Leeds is part of the national This Girl Can campaign developed by Sport England together with a range of partners to encourage women to take part in sport.

"It is a celebration of women who are doing their thing and don’t care how they look or how red their face gets when playing sport."

"We want the women of Leeds to run, roll, move, pedal, swim and shoot for the netball hoop. If you want to try a new sport or get back into a sport that you previously loved now is the time!"

When the ace gang at This Girl Can Leeds heard about Derby Stance, they jumped straight on board because they understand that roller derby is an inclusive sport for everyone and they believe in the power of good coaching. They too are thrilled that the conference is happening in their city, now on the international map for producing and training great sportspeople, and so wanted to be a part of it.

And their roll page features Leeds Roller Dolls' Wrecking Brawls, who are obviously close to Rule 56's heart - yay!

Northern Monk Brewery

Northern Monk Brewery is a regular Rule 56 haunt, for work and play.

And not just because their award-winning beer is like the northern ambrosia of the beer gods but because they are also one of our most community-minded neighbours.

If you follow them on social media, you can hardly keep up with all their events and innovative collaborations, both locally and nationally.

Like the historical Yorkshire monks they take their inspiration from, not only do they they take pride in producing and serving the finest distinctive ales to suit every customer but are continually reaching out to the local community to support like-minded organisations and charities who share their passion and ethics; at the same time strengthening the North.

If you haven't tasted their beer yet, you don't have to wait too long as they are kindly serving at our party to all those non-skaters or those who have worked up a thirst on the ramps.

Roller Derby City

What you should know about Roller Derby City and their awesome stuffs?!

Roller Derby City was born in 2010, is skater owned and operated, and proud to support local roller derby.  Not only are they sponsoring Derby Stance UK, but they have a massive list of events they've been part of (including Skate Odyssey, Men's Roller Derby World Cup and Eastbourne Extreme) and they're also an official sponsor for the British Championships, England Men's Roller Derby and London Rollergirls!

Why do we love Roller Derby City soooo much?

Their merchandise is highly respected and always in demand, and they've got some pretty cool logos.  Hydra has about a gajillion of their scrimm tops and custom hoodies.  And Hydra is a roller derby fashion trend setter.  #honestsheis

With a keen interest in strengthening our community, Slams and the team were excited about Derby Stance from the off and were the first derby business to officially hop on board.

We are really excited about the goodies they are making for the summit, and so will you be when you arrive and get your freebies.

The Works Skatepark

The Works Charity Skatepark aims to provide everyone with an opportunity to develop through education, sports, or training.  The Works believes that everyone has the ability to develop but it is how we support the person whilst with us that will make the greatest difference.  We aim to provide an engaging facility and diverse range of experiences for all to be part of.

There are so many reasons to love The Works.  For one thing, it's a big massive skate park.  For another, they spend a lot of their time supporting kids to learn new skills and realise their potential in sport and in being awesome people.

We're working closely with The Works to host an awesome night on and off wheels on Saturday November 19th!  Open to both Derby Stance UK attendees and local leagues, Summit at the Ramps is supported by Sportivate funding, which means that not only will party go-ers get in without having to pay a membership fee, but we'll have coaches on hand for the novices and the not so novices, helping everyone to up their game.
