We Love Leeds (Part 3 of 1000)

As the weeks wind down and Derby Stance UK is imminent, we thought we'd share a few more awesome things that we love about Leeds to help you with that last minute planning.

This is also our chance to introduce you to our volunteers who are going to be there all weekend answering questions, selling raffle tickets, directing you to sessions, and all around making this an awesome summit.  Absolutely loudest holla to Leeds Roller Dolls who are making up the lion's share of our volunteer rota.

Leading our volunteers on the day to allow #56 and #212 to panic about other things, meet Billy No Skates (aka Sinéad Garry aka the wife of #56).

Billy's fave Leeds hang out is Crowd of Favours for their food and drink.

(Editor's note: she hates going out in Leeds, so it must be a good pub for her to keep going back.)

Ok, on the official sliding scale from cheap date to hipster bullshit:

They all have food options apart from Wharf and Headrow House

(Editor's note: Wharf lets you bring your own food in as long as it's veggie).

  • Tapped - great beer selection -in house brewery and amazeballs pizza
  • Bundobust - brilliant beer and vegetarian street food
  • Head of steam - awesome beer and decent quick food

We're still waiting to see what delights Yorkfear recommends.  But since you're here, you may as well get to know her face.

So my picks are:

A place called 'Humpit' (Mediterranean restaurant), Bundobust (Indian street food), Friends of Ham (Real ale and meats/cheeses), Caravanserai (Moroccan), My Thai (Asian/Thai).

These places also are good to chill and drink.

Actually one of my fave places in Leeds is the Queen Victoria behind the town hall, hasn't been decorated since 1930 & I think still nicotine-stained but proper beer and the kind of place you can stay all day without a care for the world outside.

Eat at Trinity Kitchen

For drinks and social, go to Tapped

Ooh Turtle Bay for food and drinks

I'm also partial to a bevvy in Queens Court

Julia's favorite thing about Leeds is what's just outside of Leeds... "it's only a stones throw from the Yorkshire Dales and great walking and cycling".
